How do you end summer? Hmmm … With a big BANG in one of the most beautiful, diverse, historical countries of the world. OPA! I headed to Yacht Week 2019 on the Mediterranean Seas! Our group of five arrived in Athens fresh and revived, ready to kick-start our adventure. We sailed for seven days! Sun-kissed skin, windy hair and all!
First stop Alimos! A quaint fishing town on the outskirts of the city-state of Athens. We met our fellow yacht weekers and partake in our first dreamy Greek Feast and party at the Panarubia Beach Club. An epic first night under the ancient stars.
Day 2 – We sailed on to Poros! Originally built in the shape of an amphitheatre, Poros hosts a lively waterfront and is famous for its stunning beaches. We explored the hidden treasures of Poros then headed to Love Bay to play water volleyball, lyme and sip cold drinks by the beach bar. We went off once again to dine in one of Poro’s famous alleyway restaurant.
Day 3 – Ermioni. A small seaside town on the eastern coasts of Peloponnesus, Argolis! We stripped down and selected our chic beachwear for our Riviera Chic Party.
Day 4 – Hydra. Widely known as one of Greece’s most captivating and beautiful islands, Hydra is famous for its fine architecture, pebbly beaches and its captivating character. It is the perfect escape from the city and offers peace and tranquillity. No scooters, no cars, just tiny lanes and donkeys. We hiked to the viewpoint and ventured through the winding backstreets for hours, finding something spectacular at every bend.
Day 5 – Spetses. An affluent island, boasting a long naval tradition and is famous for its significant contribution in the 1821 World War of Independence. The romantic island of horse-drawn carriages and glorious history is complemented by grand mansions adorning the narrow cobbled streets. We grabbed our trendy prints and headed to Hono & Lulu for a night of Tropical Retro Vibes! Truly amazing!
Day 6 – Natural Bay. The day we all have been waiting for! Regatta Day! Our destination was the island of Dokos, which has a population of about 50 people! A thrill for adventure lovers and those interested in archaeology. The ruins of a strategically positioned castle on the island demonstrated the importance in the Byzantine times, allowing for clear observation of approaching ships. A perfect end to our day adventure was our yacht party aboard our vessel!
Day 7 – Athens. The final night. We ventured out to the Acropolis in the afternoon and bar-hopped at the many rooftop bars overlooking the city, while we enjoyed the sweeping landscapes. Our final night ended at Akanthus Beach Club, where we partied the night away.
