Local Shoe Designer Shenell Davidson has joined the leading speakers in the style conversation.
Shoe fanatics from across Jamaica and the globe have been relying on the burgeoning brand for their chic handmade sandals from Charlyn’s Collection.
The designer, who is always getting her hands dirty to make stylish footwear for her clients, continues to surprise herself when she comes up with even more fashionable designs and styles.
Like many women, Shenell is enthusiastic about fads and trends. So, she tries to keep up with them all. She figured the best way to do this is to make the necessities herself.
Chic Pieces
Shenell learnt the craft many years ago, and to date has continued to work assiduously to improve her prowess. She’s now passing on the skill to her workers who help her to continue to serve shoe lovers, especially fashion-conscious women who want to make a statement. Although she has been on the entrepreneurial journey for four years, she confessed to Flair that meeting her demands is sometimes problematic.
“The biggest challenge I’ve had so far is finding good workers. It’s hard to find sandal makers in Jamaica that are on top of their game, consistent and passionate about their work, and business-minded. Everyone I’ve met so far is excited at first, but as soon as they start making enough, it’s enough for them. Not everyone sees the bigger picture,” she lamented.
However, she is committed to finishing what she has started, serving fashionistas with what they need, even if it means sailing a one ‘woman’ ship.
Shenell considers Charlyn’s Collection pieces as a la mode, chic and one of a kind. Getting a sandal, which includes high heels, that will make you the talk of the town is pretty simple. All you have to do is tell her what you want and she’ll make it, using high-quality materials.
