After an oilplaning facial, your new, vibrant skin is more vulnerable to all the elements and more susceptible to damage. Equipped with the knowledge that over-the-counter skincare products tend to clog the pores, Dr Mariesha Terrelonge Lee suggests switching to gentle medical-grade products that do not have glycolic or salicylic acid. She recommends Cosmedix. From cleansers to serums, Cosmedix is a luxurious approach to clean, professional skincare. “Not only are the products gentle, but they’re effective; free from synthetic fragrances, dyes, and parabens; and never tested on animals,” Terrelonge Lee explained.
SKINCARE AFTER OILPLANING
While all products from the Cosmedix line can be used, this dynamic trio gives you exactly what you need to maintain your newly found glow. Let’s jump right into the routine and the products’ benefits.
Start off with the Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser. It’s a sulphate-free daily cleanser that’s great for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and will keep the pores clean and refreshed. Massage the product into the skin with your fingertips for 60 seconds, and use it twice per day. Pat-dry your face.
Follow up with the Benefit Balance Antioxidant Infused Toning Mist. It is a powerful antioxidant-blend toner that helps to nourish and help defend skin against free radical damage (skin ageing) and will also aid in product absorption. It is perfect for normal to dry skin types. Spritz the product directly on to the face, and allow it to dry.
Top it off with the Hydrate+ Moisturizing Sunscreen with SPF 17. It helps to soothe inflammation and nourish resurfaced skin to keep it healthy and provides texture-plumping hydration that softens the look of lines. Regardless of your skin tone, you need protection from the sun’s UVB rays. SPF 17 blocks 94 per cent of UVB rays that cause ageing and discolouration. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure, and reapply at least every two hours. Don’t use it at night.
